Nuggets breeze past the Nets

The New Jersey nets are in tatters now and they have one of the poorest records in the NBA.Thanks to the likes of Bucks and Bulls and other under achieving teams in the Eastern Conference the New Jersey Nets are still in contention for the playoff spot.The Denver Nuggets defeated New Jersey Nets 125-114 here today.There was no stopping Alan Iverson today as he raced to 26 points for the night.He also dished out nine assists and proved that he is the answer for the Nuggets to get into the playoff berth occupied by the Warriors.Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson were the bright players for the Nets and they scored 32 and 29 points respectivley.

Pietersen on fire

Kevin Pietersen overcame his run of poor scores and hit an awesome 129 to keep England afloat in the first day of the crucial third test against New Zealand here today at Napier.England were 240 for seven at the end of the first day's play after they won the toss and elected to bat first.Pietersen had gone without a fifty in his last ten outings but this must have come as a welcome relief to him as he notched up his 11 th test century in a critical time for England.They got off to a poor start and the next highest scorer is Paul Collingwood who made 30 runs.Pietersen's knock was punctuated by 12 fours and a big six of Daniel Vettori.

YAO VOWS TO GET READY FOR OLYMPICS

Yao Ming's message to the Chinese fans was that he plans to play in the Olympic games.Yao sent a letter to his chinese fans that the operation which was conducted on Monday to remove the stress fracture on his left foot was succesful and that he will play in August despite missing the rest of the NBA season.Yao also thanked all the basketball association members of China along with his friends and team mates and said that he needed at least four months for the injury to heal.Let us hope that Yao goes for gold at the Beijing Olympics.

Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Darren Fletcher for being a professional player.The Scottish midfielder now of 24 year old produced a workman like good performance to give a win for Manchester United against Lyon.Although Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the limelight Ferguson turned his attention to Darren Fletcher who has been in and out of the squad and was very patient for an opportunity.Fletcher was picked ahead of Owen haregreaves and Paul Scholes and Ferguson was very happy for his performance.
