Pietersen on fire

Kevin Pietersen overcame his run of poor scores and hit an awesome 129 to keep England afloat in the first day of the crucial third test against New Zealand here today at Napier.England were 240 for seven at the end of the first day's play after they won the toss and elected to bat first.Pietersen had gone without a fifty in his last ten outings but this must have come as a welcome relief to him as he notched up his 11 th test century in a critical time for England. They got off to a poor start and the next highest scorer is Paul Collingwood who made 30 runs.Pietersen's knock was punctuated by 12 fours and a big six of Daniel Vettori.
